Move over, Marshall: Jackson ready to carry Rams

Monday, June 5th, 2006

Steven Jackson only needs one thing to become the NFL’s leading rusher: the ball. Pete Prisco says St. Louis’ new offense has its third-year running back poised for a breakthrough, just like the one Kansas City’s Larry Johnson enjoyed last season.

Saddam’s Defense Witnesses Arrested

Monday, June 5th, 2006

by TChris

Some judges are disinclined by nature to credit the testimony of a defense witness, but this is beyond belief:

The chief judge in Saddam Hussein’s trial said Monday four defense witnesses have been jailed on suspicion of perjury, drawing accusations from defense lawyers that the court was trying to intimidate witnesses.

Duh, yeah. Jail is an effective weapon of intimidation. So is thuggery.

The defense lawyers said Iraqi soldiers beat several of the witnesses during their arrest May 31.

KELLER’S WWE RAW REPORT 6/5: Ongoing “virtual time” coverage of live show

Monday, June 5th, 2006

The show opened with a close-up of a pensive Triple H backstage. Shane McMahon walked in and said he and Triple H have always been cool, and he knows he didn’t mean to hit him with a sledgehammer. He said his father is another story. When Triple H asked about the Kiss My Ass Club, Shane said he doesn’t like it either. “Do you think I like that for one second. It’s embarrassing to see your father’s flabby keister. It’s mortifying when you’re actually a member,” he said…

6/5 WWE Raw: Caldwell’s ongoing Alternate Perspective review

Babyfaces, who normally would be labeled lower-card talent, but in reality are all that WWE has, hit the ring for the save. Included in the mix was Harry Smith. ECW wrestlers scattered throughout the arena. Cena came up with a clenched jaw. He didn’t look happy. He was also bleeding from the forehead.

New Xbox 360 dashboard rocks “125 new features”

Monday, June 5th, 2006

Filed under:

We know the “evil empire” is being cheeky by launching their big Xbox 360 dashboard update tomorrow on 6/6/6, but they’re boasting it’s got 125 new features for gamers to make it worth their while in updating (not like we have any choice). We don’t know how many of those “features” account for bug fixes, optimizations, and UI improvements, but we are now definitely sure the Live Marketplace has the performance optimized background download manager, downloaded video fast-forward and rewind, DVD movie bookmarking, and apparently some 122 other improvements we can look out for (ahem). Should be downloadable tomorrow morning at 2:00AM PST (we already tried, no dice as of right now — for us, anyway), so keep that Xbox runnin’.

[Thanks, Ben]

Update: sweet, got hit with a list of new features! Notable ones include: boot to dashboard (hey, sometimes you don’t want to play the game in the drive on turn-on, you know?), persistent music levels, disabling sound while in dashboard, and what seems like a bunch of other bug fixes, optimizations, and UI improvements. You know, features. Thanks PJ.
