Ray came back with a hard clothesline. He made a lazy cover and Kazarian just kicked his legs in the air without actually kicking out, but everyone paused. Devon and Bentley tagged in for their teams. The action broke down then Team 3D hit a double team hangman’s neck breaker on Bentley. They followed with the 3D on Kazarian for the win.

Microsoft fires back at DVD firmware hack

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

Filed under:

Just in case you’d finally saved up to buy an Xbox 360 for the purposes of hacking the firmware on the DVD player, you may be a fair bit disappointed when you tear those electronic guts out. The dudes at Xbox-Scene recently figured out that Microsoft seems to have responded simply by changing the version of the Hitachi-LG DVD drive, going so far as to putting black hard glue over the chip pins for extra security. While we know that Microsoft has the right to protect its technology, this solution just seems a bit overkill, no? In any case, there’s a whole series of other technical details (most of which are all Greek to us), but the short of it is that the Team-X kit to hack the firmware won’t work anymore — at least until the Xbox-Scene crew figures out another workaround, which we’re sure they will.

MiraJeff Reviews A GUIDE TO RECOGNIZING YOUR SAINTS!!

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

Greetings AICN, MiraJeff here with A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints, the impressive feature debut from writer-director Dito Montiel who gives his own memoir the big screen treatment. The film won Montiel the Best Director award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and as far as I’m concerned Sundance knows what it’s doing when anointing the next director to watch. Remember the previous year’s winner was Jeff Feurzeig who crafted the superb documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston, which joins AGTRYS as one of the top ten films released so far this year.

Child Porn Charges Against Karr Dismissed

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

by TChris

John Karr was flown to the United States from Bangkok in police custody to face an accusation that he kidnapped and killed Jonbenet Ramsey, only to be releaed from Colorado custody after DNA exonerated him. (TalkLeft coverage collected here.) Then Karr was taken to California to face charges that he possessed child pornography.

Those charges were dismissed today after prosecutors conceded that Karr may never have accessed pornographic images on his computer in California. Police lost the computer after they seized it. Karr’s lawyers argued that the computer was broken before he brought it to California, and that the images were inaccessible to him in that state. If Karr broke the law, they reasoned, he did it in another state, and California had no jurisdiction over the case.

Lieberman on Hastert

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

(Guest Post from Big Tent Democrat)

Lieberman again reverted to his partisanship theme.

“I know some people are calling for [House Speaker Dennis] Hastert to resign, but the truth is that unless he knows what he saw and he saw something he should have acted on, he deserves to have essentially a fact-finder to come in,” Lieberman said.

“The Foley case bothers people,” he added. “If anyone thinks they can make this into another partisan flap, it’s not. It’s very real and human. The House Republican leaders and, frankly, the Democratic leadership, should not make it partisan.”

Lego Mindstorms + Lasers

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

hamsan writes “My brother just hacked a laser pointer into an NXT light sensor and fully documented the process. From the page — ‘Total Project Cost — $16.99 plus shipping. Time Required — Approximately 2 hours of tinkering. Having an Alpha Rex with a Laser — Priceless!’ Of course, the usual warnings about voiding warranties and avoiding lasers apply.”
