Ryan Reynolds said he doesn’t know what’s happening with The Flash, the comic-book movie he was supposed to star in for writer/director David Goyer. “I honestly don’t know. It’s just such a huge undertaking. I’d love to wear a red unitard sometime, but I can do that on my own,” he told ComingSoon.net.

EW delivers some GRINDHOUSE pics!!!

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. One of the coolest projects we have on the horizon is the Tarantino/Rodriguez tag-team GRINDHOUSE.

Entertainment Weekly got their hands on a good 6 or 7 pics from both Tarantino’s film (DEATH PROOF) and Rodriguez’s film (PLANET TERROR). I have a couple here and you can click here or on either of the pics below to head over to EW’s website and check the others. Enjoy!!!

Some new nasty Pirate pics pop up! Pics from PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 3!!!

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Can’t wait to see next summer’s trilogy wrapper-upper, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 3: AT WORLDS END. Despite not falling 100% in love with DEAD MAN’S CHEST, there’s no other series right now that has the spectacle and characters I love to see… not to mention the effects guys at ILM stepping up to the plate again and creating some truly amazing effects.

I’ve seen a couple low-res pics pop up from the 3rd film… These two here… I don’t know where they came from… probably some magazine getting a first look for their ‘07 preview. I’ve seen the first before, but not this clear and the second I haven’t seen anywhere else. Doesn’t mean it isn’t somewhere else, but this is the first I’ve seen of it. Enjoy the pics! Can’t wait to see the Asian pirates deal with Captain Jack!

Two separate reviewers say you’ll want to shout WE ARE MARSHALL with the rest of ‘em!!!

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I have nothing against McG. He makes a certain type of film, usually. And I can’t help but smile when I watch the first CHARLIE’S ANGELS. It’s so over the top, but filled with such great character actors and beautiful women (not to mention a kick-ass soundtrack) that I can’t help but dig on it. Not so much CHARLIE’S ANGELS 2, but it looks like McG has changed gear with WE ARE MARSHALL. The trailers and TV spots don’t make it look like anything special, but I’ve been hearing some surprisingly strong word on it.

I really want to see Matthew Fox outside of the LOST world (in a lead role), so I was going to see this anyway. Now that the word is coming in pretty positive, I now might not regret giving money to this film. Here are two reviews, both positive. We start with “Jamey.” Enjoy!

Blue Dragon busts into Japanese sales charts

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

The first thing you should do when this sort of thing happens is somehow confirm that you’re still in the same dimension you were in moments before. Examine newspapers, have a look in the mirror and make doubly sure that nobody is sporting an angry orangutan for a head. With that out of the way, you can return to the matter at hand — there’s an Xbox 360 game sitting in the fourth position of the weekly Japanese software sales chart. With a healthy 80,348 copies sold, it would appear that Microsoft’s Blue Dragon is at least making some strides in the publisher’s continuing battle against apathy in Japan.

Examining the other bits of the chart on GamesAreFun, it’s easy to imagine some of the cheaper headlines that could have been used for this post. “Blue Dragon crushes Zelda in Japanese sales!” While Blue Dragon enters the chart in fourth place, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has since slid down to 17th in its second week. Post-launch Wii shortages could be to blame, as Wario Ware: Smooth Moves also fails to make it past the 23rd spot. The fact that Tales of Destiny and Final Fantasy VI Advance wind up below Blue Dragon, however, could be seen as more reassuring.

Ah, but what about “Blue Dragon defeated by Pokemon?” In its tenth week, Pokemon Diamond occupies the third slot, with second and first place going to Sega’s Yakuza 2 and Gundam SEED: Federation vs ZAFT II respectively. The install bases of the PS2 and DS make those games particularly tough opponents, so to snag fourth spot seems like a solid accomplishment. Keep an eye out for the infamous Japanese hardware sales later today to see how effective Blue Dragon is at shifting consoles.

TheSoutherner says the BLACK CHRISTMAS remake has one good thing going for it… the short runtime!

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The word on BLACK CHRISTMAS seems to be solidly shitty all down the line. This is perhaps the most positive review of the movie. It makes me sad… with the original being so good… and having such an amiguous ending. Why not set this film years later in the house where the killings from the original took place? I like the idea of remakes being sort of quasi-sequels/remakes a whole lot more than the trash I’ve seen lately. Enjoy the review, beware of spoilers!

I am The Southerner and am here with my thoughts on the new Black Christmas remake I caught at a recent trade screening. I posted a review a bit ago about The Good Shepherd. I was called out on a mistake, didn’t handle it very well, and went on a rant. I can’t say that I won’t make any mistakes, but I do promise to have a thicker skin. Enough about me, let’s get into it. THE FOLLOWING IS SPOILER HEAVY! (For anyone who doesn’t like my use of the words hottie, chick, or any other seemingly derogatory term for females, just remember what movie this is.)
