Computer uses webcam to play Pong with itself

As Pong attempts to solidify itself as the most hacked up game in the history of mankind, Ashish Derhgawen has programmed his computer to actually play a homegrown version of the title without any human interaction at all. By utilizing a webcam as the machine’s eyes, he was able to write up an image recognition program that could detect borders and make appropriate movements based on where the ball currently was. Nothing too dramatic in terms of execution, but teaching an old computer new tricks always brings about a certain sense of pride. Check the video after the jump.

Not In The Mood For A Beautiful Trailer? Try A Really Badass One For 3:10 TO YUMA!

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

Okay, now this is the way you cut a trailer, folks. Lots of tease here, and I have a feeling there’s still a whole bunch we don’t know about the way James Mangold is going to let this one play out.

The premise, if you don’t know, is that there’s a very bad man (Russell Crowe) who needs to be transported to where he can catch a train that will take him to be prosecuted for his crimes. It being the Old West and all, his boys are determined not to let that happen, and only a very good man (Christian Bale) is willing to stand up and make sure Crowe gets to that train. Very simple, very stark. And it looks like Mangold has really stepped up.
