Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

When baggage handler John Smeaton helped a lone police officer subdue a suspected terrorist who drove a burning car into Scotland’s Glasgow Airport last week, he probably never guessed more than 1000 people would line up to buy him a pint of beer. This is exactly what has happened, though, thanks to the efforts of a website bearing his name.

Capcom Has Plans For Future 2D Fighters

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Capcom’s Past, Present, & Future
During the 1990’s, Capcom fueled many of my game cravings with their two-dimensional beatemups such as the Street Fighter, Final Fight, and Darkstalkers series. Many critics complained that they milked the Street Fighter series too much, but in reality, Capcom tweaked their popular franchises to perfection while still developing […]

SEX AND THE CITY Movie Cu…Err…Coming!!

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Merrick here…

I’m probably gonna be drawn & quartered in the Talkbacks for saying this, but I kinda really don’t like SEX AND THE CITY very much.

My sister loves it. I know many people who love it. I think the show is tedious, self-conscious, smarmy, unrealistic, and…I don’t care what kinda body Sarah Jessica Parker has…I can’t see past her horse face.

But, what the hell do I know? It ran for many seasons, has a huge fan base, and…it seems…New Line’s about to make a movie out of it.

Scorekeeper With FRACTURE Composer Jeff Dana!!

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Greetings! ScoreKeeper here delivering an interview with the junior half of the brothers Danna scoring team which earlier this year wrapped up production on the Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling legal thriller FRACTURE (2007). It’s an enrapturing and entertaining film with a smart score setting it apart from other films to come out this year.

Jeff Danna is the younger brother of Mychael Danna, another well-respected and prolific film composer. While each of them have had their own scoring projects to contend with, FRACTURE marked a rare occasion where they collaborated together. Judging from our conversation it was a highlight moment for Jeff and one that could possibly be repeated in the future.

Capone Snuggles Up To LADY CHATTERLEY!!

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here.

I’m sure many of you more scholarly types are aware that there were actually three versions of the Lady Chatterley story written by D.H. Lawrence, including the notorious Lady Chatterley’s Lover and the lesser-known second version John Thomas and Lady Jane, which this film was based upon. (I believe the third book was called Lady Chatterley Conquers the Martians.) The Chatterley character has been rendered all but unrecognizable in a string of bastardized softcore films, which is why this award-winning French adaptation by Pascale Ferran is such a treat. Yes, it’s nearly three hours long; but it’s a sumptuous sexual epic that isn’t nearly as scandalous as you’ve heard but still manages to pack an emotional punch.
