People: Jim Gordon: In Memory

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

By Roger Ebert

I didn’t know Jim Gordon well, but I knew him with great affection. His personality improved the weather in a room, and we shared the same room for years.

That would be the Lake Street Screening Room, where as often as five times a week the film critics of the Chicago area gather for previews of new movies. Jim was for 23 years movie critic for the Post-Tribune in Gary, Ind., and more recently for The Times of the northwest Indiana area, published in Munster.

Xbox 360 Arcade console landing on October 23rd?

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Filed under:

C’mon, surely you’ve coped with the fact that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Core system will likely be replaced with the impending Arcade console, right? If not, now would be a great time for some serious soul-searching, because both Amazon and Toys ‘R’ Us are listing the system on their respective websites as having an October 23rd ship date. Of course, we’re still not sure exactly what ports / extras the Arcade flavor will arrive with, but it’s safe to say it’ll run you $279.99 when it (probably) ships in three weeks.

ALIEN VS PREDATOR: REQUIEM has a new killer sweet trailer!

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Hey folks, Harry here… IGN just grabbed the latest ALIEN VS PREDATOR: REQUIEM trailer and ya know… 20th Century Fox really does cut the best trailers. The film looks like it is the most kickass bit of monster mayhem we’ve had in a real long time. And then the final music cue kicks in and I’m just - fucking - counting the moments to Christmas with Aliens and Predators - and AlienPredators and the last one was quite a bit of a mess. But we have a totally different team on this - and although the initial script was dreadful - the location change and at least the feeling seems to have changed quite a bit. Here’s where you can get the trailer… enjoy…

Microsoft’s pink / blue Xbox 360 controllers on sale in US

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Filed under:

Although we knew that Japan would be getting a new pair of pastel-ed Xbox 360 controllers, there’s good news for those camped out in America, too. Starting today, US consumers can snatch up each of the colored controllers for $49.99 apiece, which are indeed of the wireless variety. Thankfully, this blue looks a tad more masculine than the prior version we saw, and if you’re still in doubt, check out a few more angles after the jump.
